Our RE curriculum helps pupils to develop as tolerant young people with respect and understanding of the views of others, including the beliefs and practices of religions and other world views. In EYFS, the children will learn about belonging, their community and some religious celebrations and events. In Key Stage 1, the children will discover Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism, Sikhism, Buddhism and Islam. In Key Stage 2, they will expand on their previous learning and delve deeper into the six religions already covered.

Parents do have the right to withdraw their child from part or all of the RE curriculum and anyone wishing to do so must make an appointment with the headteacher to discuss this request.

RE gives pupils an understanding of a range of religions and other world views, enabling them to develop their ideas, values and identities. At Gledhow, our core RE curriculum will be enhanced by visitors and visits to places of worship which deepen the knowledge and understanding of our diverse society, allowing children to articulate their personal beliefs and values while respecting the right of others to differ.
