Class Routines

Children need to come to school in their P.E kit on their class's P.E day - anyone unwell for a lesson must bring a note.

PE Days

Ochre - Monday and Thursday (outdoor)

Saffron - Monday and Thursday (outdoor)

Citrine - Tuesday (outdoor) and Wednesday (indoor)

Milk is taken after playtime by those registered with 'CoolMilk' and free fruit/vegetables are available for all to eat at playtime.

Children eat their dinner in the classroom at 12.30pm. School dinners are free for all. They play outside from 12:00 to 12.30pm.

Throughout the week, children earn dojo points for good behaviour, hard work and helping others.

Curriculum Enrichment

Collection

Year 2 children are dropped off and picked up in the bottom playground (Brackenwood Drive gate). They are greeted by their teacher on the walk way. We are currently running staggered start and finish times for the 3 classes to allow for social distancing.

Saffron: 8:40am and 3:00pm

Ochre: 8:50am and 3:10pm

Citrine 9:00am and 3:20pm

If your child is going to be picked up by anyone other than the regular carer you need to inform the class teacher via Class Dojo before the end of school. If the class teacher is unaware of any arrangements they will need to phone you to confirm this is agreed. Please make sure the class teacher knows who will be picking up your child to save any problems at the end of the day.

Homework

Year 2 children should be encouraged and supported to read every night. This does not have to be their school reading book, it can be any reading material you have at home or online. They will receive a new book every Friday to be returned on a Tuesday.

Homework will be set on a Friday through Class Dojo. There will be a spelling task based on the spelling rule children have been learning and a Maths task. We encourage regular practise of the Year 2 statutory  spelling words which can be found in the booklet below. The activity menu has useful ideas for learning spellings.

Mid-term there will be a LEARNING LOG set. This will be related to one of the units of work that has been studied and may be completed in any style or using any media that the child prefers.
