Year 1

In Year 1 we have 3 classes! Our 3 classes are Cinnamon, Coral and Copper. All classes throughout school are named after colours in the rainbow and Year 1's colour is yellow!

Class Routines

P.E. kits consist of black or maroon shorts or tracksuit bottoms, a plain white T-shirt, Gledhow P.E hoodie and black or white trainers. 


Year 1 children have a 15-minute morning breaktime and a 15-minute playtime in the afternoon. They have their lunch at 12:00 until 12:20 and play outside from 12:30 until 1pm. A school menu can be found here https://www.gledhow.leeds.sch.uk/school-meals. Children may also bring a healthy packed lunch (no nuts please). Each child will need their own, named water bottle in school. 

School milk is available at a cost and children may bring a healthy snack (e.g. a piece of fruit) to eat at morning break time. 

Your class teacher can be contacted via Class Dojo, however, for any urgent messages please contact the school office.


PE days: Wednesday

Library: All classes go to the library and take a book home. This needs to be returned each week

Collection

We have Gledowls places for children who need to arrive earlier/ stay later than the start times stated. Please see https://www.gledhow.leeds.sch.uk/Gledowls-before-and-after-school-club


Coral and Cinnamon classes start school at 8:40 and Copper at 8:50. Gates open 10 minutes before the start time and close promptly at 8:50. 


Coral and cinnamon must be collected at 3:10 and Copper class at 3:20. If there are any changes to pick up arrangements, please inform the school office or the class teacher via Class Dojo. Dojo messages will be checked periodically during the school day but there is not an expectation for staff to respond to messages outside of school hours.

Homework

Reading books go home on Wednesdays. They are returned to school on Mondays. 

These books need to be read at least 3 times and recorded in their reading record.


Mathletics: weekly Mathletics set each Monday

Ed shed: weekly spelling aligned to Little Wandle (they are not formally assessed in class)
