School Meals Provision

Gledhow meals are cooked from fresh in our school kitchens by Jane Glossop and her LCC catering team. Our termly menus provide a high quality nutritionally balanced choice of meals for the children.

Each day there are four menu options: GREEN - Vegetarian , RED - Meat, YELLOW - Sandwich, PURPLE - Jacket Potato. A salad bar and selection of desserts are available each day.

The children order their meal at registration each day so that meals can then be prepared to order.

School Meals and Packed Lunches

Some parents may wish their child to enjoy a packed lunch provided from home, rather than a school meal. Please let the school office know if your child prefers to have a packed lunch.  Requests to change school meals to packed lunches or vice-versa can only happen at the end of each half-term and should be made in writing to the School Office.  Confirmation will be sent to parents once the change has been made.

The Gledhow Kitchen Team

Jane Glossop leads an award winning kitchen. Not only have they the highest award for hygiene but were also the runners-up across all the LCC school kitchens for their innovations and quality of food.

If you require any further information regarding school lunches, please contact Mrs Julie Collier in the school office.

Nursery - 11.30

Reception - 11.35

Year 1 - 11.45

Year 2 - 11.55

The older children have a rota system from 12.10pm, though those playing sport or attending clubs may come earlier.

School meals information

Do you know… since September 2014, school meals for ALL children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 have been completely FREE! This provides a saving to families of approximately £460 per year for each child.

Children are able to concentrate and learn better when they have eaten a healthy, balanced lunch – school meals can be the simple solution. In our school we serve four meal choices each day, consisting of: two main courses (one of which is a vegetarian meal) a jacket potato option and a sandwich option. Each meal includes a main course, vegetables and salad, pudding of the day or fruit or yoghurt and chilled water.
