Community Links
Gledhow is a community school which serves it's neighbourhood: building close links with groups in the area and going out to local groups and organisations for educational and social purposes. These include curriculum enrichment visits, sporting and artistic events and social occasions. This page is being built to share some of these local partnerships and the joy they bring to all involved.
Gledhow's community partners include St Edmund's Parish Church, Gledhow Christian Care Home, Gledhow Tennis and Cricket Clubs, Yorkshire Amateurs Football Club, Catalan Football, The Woodcraft Folk and The Friends of Gledhow Woods.
St Edmund's Parish Church
David Paton Williams, former vicar at St Edmund's, was a true friend of Gledhow Primary.
As well as leading assemblies throughout the year, David typically joined us at Harvest and other school events as well as welcoming the whole school community to church for our Christmas service.
David has moved on to 'pastures new' recently and Nigel Wright has recently been ordained as the new vicar of St Edmund's. We wish him and his family well as he embarks on this new role.
Our school has had links with the church since it was opened; in fact our school crest has a Glede (red kite) with open wings and the shield of St Edmund's on it's chest.
Everyone is always welcome at St Edmund's. Please click here to have a look at the St Edmund's Parish Church website or call in at the church to speak with Nigel and his team.
