Residentials at Gledhow

At Gledhow School, we believe Residential experiences are a crucial element of pupil's time with us. Staying overnight, away from home, with your fellow classmates and teacher, provides invaluable opportunties for learning, team building and adventure. We have led Residentials at Gledhow for over 20 years and cannot wait to continue to develop and expand on our programme of trips. On this page you can find details about our current Year 4, 5 and 6 residentials. We hope you enjoy taking a look.

Year 4 - Grinton Lodge - 1 Night Residential

Pupils in Year 4 take a trip to Grinton Lodge, a magnificient Youth Hostel located just outside the Village of Reeth in the Swale Valley. They begin the trip by visiting Hazel Brow Farm for Geese Herding, SHeep racing and Alpaca feeding. They then take a scenic walk back to the hostel along the Swale Trail which follows the reiver Swale. Back at the hostel, they can enjoy games and then songs and stories by the campfire. In the morning, they take part in orienteering and team games before going home.
