Curriculum Enrichment

Gledhow has a comprehensive programme of curriculum enrichment to ensure that all children receive the opportunity to explore units of work through practical and experiential activities. Enrichment happens across the curriculum and provides opportunities to develop independent learning skills and reach for higher level learning objectives requiring practical application of knowledge and skills.

Primary Mathematics Challenge at Leeds Grammar

Wednesday 15 October, 2015 was the day that Gledhow mathematicians took part in the semi final of the Primary Mathematics Challenge, hosted and organised by Leeds Grammar School.

Our Team: Aimee Baxter, Kynan Buckley, Emilia Plant and Anthony Roper were fantastic and took on all the rounds with enthusiasm and skill - not only answering the individual and team questions but rearranging the furniture between rounds as well!

The team had a great fun time and even managed to be creative and make mathematical symbols using their own body shapes while they were waiting for the competition to start.

The children were looked after by an ex-pupil 'Amrita Singh-Morgan' who helped make the morning special.

The children completed a Speed Challenge, a Team Challenge and a Quick Fire Tables Round. Staff from each House Team were also involved and were VERY competitive! In the end Phoenix were the winners with 206 points.

The Challenge was put together by the House Captains and Vice Captains and they worked tirelessly to make it fun, fair yet very competitive!  Congratulations to everyone for such an amazing competition. We shall all look forward to next year’s Maths Challenge.
