Welcome to Year 6!

Hello Year 6,

We're missing you all! We hope that you are all well and safe.

We know that lots of you are already using the website resources on this page. They are being added to on a regular basis so please keep checking.

We hope you're also using the more structured weekly plans which are under the tab 'Home learning during closure' page.

Have you seen  our Twitter account @GledhowPrimary  or our Gledhow Primary YouTube channel? Miss King and Mrs Turner have been busy reading our class text Skellig. There's lots more on there too!

Make sure you're signed up to receive the weekly PINGs and other messages, as well as Class Dojo for the latest information and activities for your class. We look forward to seeing some of the fantastic work that Year 6 are doing at home! We hope to see you all soon but in the meantime, stay safe, keep well and keep learning!

Best wishes,

Mrs Turner and Miss King

Sixes And Their Successes Week (SATS)

We have appreciated all your hard work this year - you have all done amazingly well. We know some of you will be disappointed that you’re not doing these tests, and some of you might not mind at all! Whatever your feelings about it, we wanted you to know that we’re thinking of you all. Here are some activities that will suit everyone. There is no obligation to participate or complete any of them; we just want to mark what would have been a busy week! The real SATs would have shown what you can achieve in English and Maths, but it wouldn’t have shown us how brilliant you all are in other ways!

Here are your Silly Alternative Tasks for Sixes:

Have a delicious breakfast, Create a project about yourself/a skill that you have to celebrate your talents, Create an Art/DT project to represent Year 6/Gledhow/Your Class, Have a go at a TikTok dance/lip sync challenge (a parent or carer will need to set up an account as users need to be at least 13) Bake to celebrate, Create a time capsule to look back on this time in your life, Interview your family about their school life, Create a bucket list of things you want to do in the future, Start ticking off from the life skills challenges, Challenge a parent or carer to sit a real SATs paper, Have a non-pen day and anything else you want to do to celebrate your achievements.

Please share what you get up to with us on Class Dojo; we’d love to see!

Class Routines

Children need to wear their PE Kit on Wednesdays and Fridays - anyone unwell for a lesson must bring a note.

PE may change due to other events happening in school but we would still like all children to come to school in their PE kit on these days.

Children go to the hall for their dinner from 12:40 - 13:00pm.

Each week two stars of the week and one star writer are chosen from each class will be selected to receive an award in our "Celebration Assembly". These are awarded for outstanding contributions throughout the week.

Hot Chocolate Club will also be awarded to 'Always' children for exceptional behaviour every week.

Curriculum Enrichment

Each term we try to help 'bring the curriculum to life' with an extra activity whether it be a trip, visit or visitor. We appreciate that these additional items often have a cost but they are an essential part of our successful school.

Homework

Children are expected to read at least three times a week (outside of school hours) for a minimum of 10 minutes. We would really appreciate it if parents could sign all planners after each piece of reading and at the end of the week.

Year 6 pupils will also recieve a Maths tasks and either spelling / GPS/ Reading task.
