Welcome to Year 4

Azure - Mr Walker

Sapphire - Mrs Masters

Cobalt - Mr McAlinden and Mrs Jeynes

Class Routine

Children need their PE Kit in school for their weekly lessons - anyone unwell for a lesson must bring a note.

PE Days

Cobalt and Sapphire - Monday and Wednesday

Azure - Monday and Friday

Children go out for their dinner at 12:00pm each day.

Each week two children from each class will be selected to receive an award in our Celebration Assembly and one child is selected for their exemplary behaviour. Throughout the week, children earn Dojo points for good behaviour, hard work and helping others.

Collection of Children

Year 4 children arrive from 8.40am and come to thier classrooms independently. All are collected from the school playground at 3.10pm unless they are attending the Out of School Club or a school Enrichment club. If your child is going to be picked up by anyone other than the regular carer you need to inform the class teacher or the office as soon as possible. If the class teacher is unaware of any arrangements they will need to phone parents to confirm what has been agreed. Please make sure the class teacher knows who will be picking up your child to save any problems at the end of the day.

Year 4 children should be encouraged and supported to read every night.

Homework will be set on a Friday to be returned by the following Friday. These will often be a spelling task based on the spelling rule children have been learning and weekly times tables in Maths in preparation for the Multiplication Check in June.

Parent information workshops

Below are the presentations shown at our recent parents meetings. If you weren't able to attend, we hope you will find them useful to read through.

Key Documents

Multiplication tables check

Here is an advice document published by the DfE for Year 4 parents regarding the upcoming Multiplication Tables Check in June. You will also receive a paper copy. Should you have any queries or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact your child's class teacher.

Home learning

Please find below some home learning activities to keep you busy if you are currently in self isolation, or if our school does have to close during the Coronavirus outbreak. We hope you enjoy the activities and look forward to hearing about what you have done on your return to school. We are very grateful to companies like Twinkl, Classroom Secrets and Third Space Learning, who are busy providing schools with resources like these to share.

Maths - here are some fluency and reasoning activities to keep you busy!

Battle of the Bands!

Check out the upcoming battles of the bands you can take part in whilst you are home learning!

The winner of each battle will be announced here on your class page each Friday!

Congratulations to this week's winners of the battle ...

Another very close battle, well done Year 4 girls!

STEM challenges

STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) is a fascinating area to learn about. Why not try out one of these 2 or 5 hour projects at home?

Have a look at this really interesting interview with Tim Peake - what is it really like to be an astronaut?
