Class Routines

Children need their PE Kit in school for their weekly lessons - anyone unwell for a lesson must bring a note.

PE Days

2SH - Wednesday and Thursday

2PG - Thursday and Friday

2VW - Monday and Wednesday

Milk is taken after playtime by those registered with 'CoolMilk' and free fruit/vegetables are available for all to eat  at playtime.

Children go to the hall for their dinner at  11:55am each day. Meals are free for all.

Each week one child from each class will be selected for 'always doing the right thing' and will go to ALWAYS CLUB for an hour on Friday afternoon.

Each week two children from each class will be selected to receive an award in our Celebration Assembly.

Curriculum Enrichment

Each term we try to help 'bring the curriculum to life' with an extra activity whether it be a trip, visit or visitor. We appreciate that these additional items often have a cost but they are an essential part of our successful school.

Planned items for Year 2 are:

15th November 2017 : Samuel Pepys - approx £5

10th January 2018: World War II - approx. £5

19th January 2018: Fairytale writing workshop - approx. £4

7th (2VW and 2PG) and 8th (2SH) March 2018: Puppets Workshop - approx. £5

20th June 2018: Skipton Castle - approx. £12

Homework

Year 2 children should be encouraged and supported to read every night.

There will be a maximum of 3 pieces of homework each week, which will be set on a Friday and returned by following Friday. These will often be a spelling task, a book on 'Bug Club' and a Maths task on a sheet. Sometimes tasks will be set in other areas of the curriculum using DB Primary, our Learning Platform.

Mid-term there will be a LEARNING LOG set. This will be related to one of the units of work that has been studied and may be completed in any style or using any media that the child prefers.
