Exploring a World of Opportunities Together

Welcome

Award winning Gledhow Primary is situated in the North of Leeds on Lidgett Lane, LS8. We are a school where children learn in a happy, caring and secure environment.

Everyone is encouraged and challenged to aim for the best that they can achieve in all that they do.

Our school develops independence in learning and values this equally alongside academic achievement in all areas of the curriculum.

Gledhow offers very high educational standards, an excellent enriched curriculum and an environment rich in the sports and arts.

Children in Need Bun Sale - 18/11/16

Year 6 children did a fantastic job of organising our annual bun sale. They baked some delicious treats, set up both classrooms, made posters and left some very satisfied customers.
They managed to raise a whopping £105 for Children in Need!
Well done!

Den Building 2016 Year 1 & 5

"The best bit was getting soaked!" (Connor)

"I was a bit shy at first but then I made friends with the Year 5's." (Mollie)

"The whole day was amazing!" (Adam V)

Both Year 5 and Year 1 were a real credit to Gledhow as they quickly got into mixed groups and each member played their part. Much to the relief of the children, most of the dens were waterproof! It was a pleasure to see so many smiles and genuine team work! Well done Year 1 and Year 5!

Author, Kathryn White visits Gledhow - 24th March

It's amazing what can happen if you dress up on World Book Day! Lucas in 1LA dressing up as a character from 'Here Comes the Crocodile' led to the author's visit and a workshop! The whole school were inspired to find plots and settings lurking in the news, documentaries and even amongst their family and friends!

What People say about Gledhow

Congratulations to you and your staff on a wonderful concert / Nativity in St Edmund’s church today!  It was a first class performance at all levels and most enjoyable.  You combined the Christian message with “A Christmas Carol” with skill and humour.  The children obviously enjoyed every minute. Thank you.

With best wishes for Christmas and the New Year,

Ann O’Grady  (Grandmother)

‘Good news of great joy’

Dear Parents, Carers, Children and Friends of Gledhow Primary School,

December has arrived with all the wonderful expectations of Christmas at home and at school. All around the world, whether in South Africa, Malaysia, Nigeria, Ukraine, Brazil, Canada, Finland or China, people of every nation will be celebrating the birth of Jesus.

Our major Nativity Production at St Edmunds, Roundhay is therefore fittingly entitled ‘Christmas around the World’. We are all looking forward to seeing Year 4 lead us in Gledhow’s annual Christmas ‘extravaganza’, where excitingly we will be joined by Nigel Wright, the new Vicar at St Edmund’s. Do remember the date : Tuesday 13th December !!!

Look out as well for the widely anticipated Nativities performed by our Reception (Thursday 15th December) and Year 1 (Wednesday 14th December) children!!! Thankyou to all the teachers and staff whose hard work makes all these celebrations possible.

Discos and Year Group Parties will make the coming fortnight a very special time for everyone in our Gledhow ‘family’.

I will look forward to seeing many of you at these heart-warming and uplifting events.

Wishing you a safe and enjoyable weekend.
